I have a slight twist on the 80070241 error while trying to install. Most suggestions involve burned DVD's which mine is not, as I 'm using MS DVDs. I get the above error at 1-3% of file copy every time. I have used the same disk on a different machine with no problem in file copy. The problem machine is my Inspiron 6000 (only 5 mos old) laptop. I am trying to install on a Virtual PC with at least 700 MB ram allocated to it, and the 16G dynamic drive (same as on the machine where it worked BTW). If its not media or download quality, and both HDs are IDE not SATA then what is it? I have seen references that people have successfully installed in Virtual PCs and Inspirons. I am at a loss. Any advice would be appreciated.

Jill you did not say what version of VPC you're using but see if this guide helps you:

thanks for the info Chad..that article helped get me up and running with my VM. That article also gives a tip about accessing the VM via RDP. Does that mean the host accessing the guest via RDP? I enabled the settings and was able to access the guest machine from a seperate physical PC on my network via RDP but not with the host machine. Am I missing something?

Jill--
Really glad you're up and running. I believe that the context is when you RDP into the host operating system.
Also see this for ref and context as well as other entries from Ben Armstrong's Blog. Ben Armstrong is PM for the Virtual Machine team at MSFT.
